Thermal Solar Collectors insulation
Already used for more than 30 years, solar heat technologies are very flexible, scalable and eco-friendly at every step, from production to end of life. This energy is transforming the way heat is produced for a wide range of applications from water supplies in individual homes to entire cities, as well as industrial processes.
Heat represents almost half of the energy demand in Europe and accounts for the greater part of European households’ energy bills.
What is a thermal solar collector?
Thermal solar collectors provide heat in a clean, sustainable and economic way, following a basic principle: solar radiation is collected and the resulting heat is conveyed to a heat transfer medium – usually a fluid or air. The heated medium is used either directly (to heat tap water for example) or indirectly by means of a heat exchanger that transfers the heat to its final destination.
This technology is mainly used for:
- domestic hot water and space heating,
- district heating,
- industrial process heat and
- air conditioning and cooling.
Did you know…?
Do you know the difference between photovoltaic solar panels and thermal solar collectors? Thermal solar collectors do not produce electricity but are used to heat up thermal systems!
Adding high-performance insulation to your solar panels means adding great value for your domestic and industrial customers. Solar energy insulation helps save and concentrate heat energy. By avoiding thermal losses through the rear and the sides of the collector, solar energy insulation optimizes the efficiency of the collector, enabling the maximum amount of collected heat to be transferred to the circulating fluid.
ISOVER has developed a unique range of products designed specifically for solar applications.
From excellent thermal insulation to cost-efficiency in one solution, our U SOLAR insulation solutions based on ULTIMATE™ light stone wool, are suitable for flat single-glazed ventilated collectors, with standard or reflective glass, and working temperatures of up to 250°C. U SOLAR products are specially designed to avoid any fogging deposits or condensation on the glazing, even with high stagnation temperatures in the collector.
ULTIMATE™ is made of natural volcanic minerals, can be recycled and is biosoluble according EUCEB and RAL and therefore doesn’t pose any health risks. The products are designed and produced in Europe to reduce the impact of transportation. A perfect combination of high thermal performances and sustainability.
Apart from our insulation solutions for Thermal Solar Collectors, we also have solutions to insulate Concentrated Solar Power plants. Click here to learn more.
Why choose U SOLAR?
Moreover, the natural flexibility and resilience of ULTIMATE™ stone wool fit perfectly to the absorber shapes by enveloping the tubes. Avoiding any space gap, the thermal performance is even more efficient compared to traditional stone wool products.
U SOLAR is a complete and sustainable solution:
- No fogging (binder outgassing), certified by SPF lab
- Best-in-class thermal insulation
- Stable dimensions for T° going up to 250°C
- Good handling: flexibility, easy-roll concept
- Minimum dust release
- Low densities for light collectors and easy handling on the roof
- Optimised logistics with compressed products
- Customised insulation for each collector type
