The ship is insulated with ISOVER's Glasswool, Stonewool and ULTIMATE®. Such modern insulation solutions help meeting the requirements of the marine industry for fire protection as well as for thermal and acoustic insulation

The construction of Mein Schiff 3 started in 2012 and the float-out of the ship took place in November 2013. The ship is scheduled to be completed in may 2014.

With "Mein Schiff 3"and "Mein Schiff 4",  her sister ship currently being built, TUI Cruise aims at a new generation of environmentally friendly cruise-ships.

Mein Schiff 3 is a highly sophisticated and innovative cruiseship of 99 000 gross register tons (GT). Its building is reported to be record-breaking tight thanks to the use of new building practices with high block outfitting ratio and modularisation. It is insulated with ISOVER ULTIMATE® and Glasswool for a better energy efficiency and its weight savings characteristics.
This is the first vessel where the U coefficient for thermal conductivity has been taken into account in thermal insulation design.

”The ship’s insulation now weights 50 percent less than the standard insulation weight for ships of similar sizes. This saves energy considerably,” notes Matti Reijonen, from Saint-Gobain ISOVER Finland.
