The Australian company Scenic Group chooses SAINT GOBAIN ISOVER's light stone wool ULTIMATE™ for its SCENIC ECLIPSE 2

To date, the SCENIC ECLIPSE 2 is the most prestigious ship in the world along with sister ship SCENIC ECLIPSE 1. It is an ultra-luxurious 6-star polar cruiser, which belongs to polar class *6 and ice class *1A:

  • The ship can accommodate up to 237 passengers in 114 luxury cabins, as well as 172 crew members.
  • It is well equipped, with a submarine, a helicopter, zodiacs, kayaks.
  • Its dimensions are exceptional (170 m long, 22 m wide and 10 decks)

Its delivery is scheduled for 15/04/2023.

A big insulation project, with a big logistical challenge

Saint-Gobain Croatia supplied nearly 55,000 m2 of U SeaProtect® insulation (made of ULTIMATE™ light stone wool), i.e. 110 tonnes, or 3,000 m3 in total of rolls and slabs.

Such quantities of products posed a huge challenge in terms of logistics, especially with regard to storage space. And SAINT GOBAIN Croatia assisted MKM Yachts here, providing them with a warehouse in Zagreb.

Many advantages combined in ULTIMATE™ light stone wool

Thanks to U SeaProtect®, not only will fire protection be guaranteed, but passengers and crew will benefit from best-in-class thermal and acoustic comfort on the ship.

In addition, U SeaProtect® reduced the weight of the insulation by 25% compared to alternative stone wool solutions, which translates into direct benefits for the ship owner, namely to consume less energy and reduce its environmental impact by reducing its CO2 emissions.

Another key criterion that favoured U SeaProtect® was the ease of installation offered by this lightweight stone wool.
