Low-energy ISOVER Office building in Kallo
ISOVER sets an example with its new low energy office building (K20 value)
November 7th 2008 ISOVER Belgium moved into a new contemporary office building in Kallo. This new structure is a leading example of energy efficient office buildings. The building contains not only the sales and marketing departments of ISOVER Belgium and its collaborators of Gyproc, but also a showroom and a training center.
During the construction of the building, ISOVER used all their own materials. The most important criteria for ISOVER's products are ecologically friendly and energy economical. They are also concerned with their capacity to re-use their primary insulation materials (glass wool and recycled glass). Insulation is generally considered as the best solution against heat loss.
ISOVER has integrated their glass wool products into this new structure: 40 cm width/thickness in the roof and 20 cm width/thickness in the walls. The metallic plates which cover the facade are interchanged with large insulating panels of super glass.
These applications permit the building to attain a K value of 20, where 45 is the generally accepted norm; the result obtained by ISOVER is much more superior to those of traditional buildings.
The Energy value, or E value, is 60, or close to half of the energy consumption of a common building structure (100).
U-value : 0,1 W/m².K by 40 cm - Roofine (Taurus - lambda 37) in 3 layers (150 cm+ 15 cm + 10 cm) - 1600 m² in 40 cm
U-value : 0,15 W/m²K by 20 cm - Mupan façade (lambda 32) in 2 layers (10 cm + 10 cm)
