ISOVER won a big Marine contract in Singapore

ISOVER won the project for 7 Espadon Drilling ships to be built by Jurong shipyard based in Singapore.

03/02/2015

Each of the 7 ships will be equipped with 85 tons  of ULTIMATE solutions for fire protection, thermal and acoustics constructions, representing a total of nearly 600 tons to be delivered during the next 4 years (until 2019).

This contract is the biggest single purchasing contract for insulation solutions in the last 2 years for Marine and Offshore in Singaporean region. The bidding has been won by Saint-Gobain ISOVER despite fierce competition on price.
Additionally to the traditional weight savings of nearly 40% that ULTIMATE solutions enable compared to stone wool solutions, Jurong central purchasing department has been convinced by the multiple benefits of ISOVER global offer:

  • the reduction in freight costs on transport by containers thanks to the use of compressed rolls of ULTIMATE

  • the possible savings on quantity of material purchased by using rolls instead of slabs (drastic reduction of the waste due to off-cut)

  • the ability to offer solutions with high quality technical Glass cloth faced products combined with ISOVER Tape for sealing the joints

  • the ability to provide local support in Brazil

Delivery will occur partly in Singapore where the hull part is built and partly in Brazil at Jurong new Aracruz shipyard where the living quarters will be installed.
First delivery of products started 4th quarter of 2014 in Singapore and Brazil and next one will occur in April 2015.
